I ordered Lincoln Lawyer on demand Friday night, having heard that it was a great movie based on a superb book.  It had been quite a while since I’d seen a drama with Matthew McConaughey, so I wasn’t entirely sure how serious I’d be able to take him given the long history of chick flicks (that I love, of course).
It was phenomenal.  The movie was intriguing, suspenseful, and thought-provoking.  The justice system was depicted in it’s true glory, as a system full of faults for all the underlying good intentions.  In light of the Casey Anthony verdict, it certainly made me think twice about the nuances of the justice system that most people never consider until it “fails” them.
McConaughey’s performance was intense and sincere.  He had me hook, line and sinker, yet again.  I am such a sucker for his accent and insane physique, but I actually developed a genuine appreciation for his character.  The supporting cast was pretty damn good as well.  The attractive/evil client portrayed by Ryan Phillippe reminded me a lot of his role in Cruel Intentions.  Marisa Tomei was a great fit for his ex-wife, and William H. Macy with long blonde hair, looking relatively young?  Who knew?  I had heard that Trace Adkins was in the movie, but I didn’t even recognize him as a hard-core biker gang leader until the end.
Go watch it!
